MADNESS: Run

Part 10

(??? Prospective)

I stand in the middle of a corn field that stretches as far as the eye can see. The sun is high, a few clouds here and there. It was warm but a gentle breeze is blowing, making the corn dance and rustle around me. I breath in deeply and smell the familiar smell of pollen in the air.

“The corn is in tassel!” I turn to the voice, unafraid because I know to whom it belongs.

My grandfather stands just a little ways off. He’s just as I saw him last. Long silver hair pulled back into two braids. His lean body hunched over just a bit. His rough skin red with sun burn. He is examining the corn. His wise eyes looking at the bright green color. His wrinkled hand brushed the tassel and comes way covered in pollen dust.

“Yes. This year will be a good harvest, provided that the weather stays well.” He looks to me and smiles.

I can’t take it any longer. I run to him and throw my arms around him, tears streaming down my face.

“P-papa!” Choking on my sobs. “I-I’m so sorry Papa….so sorry!”

He pulls me in closer and places a hand on my head. His old arms feel strong. “Nows not the time for river eyes, you must be strong, my sweet. What happened long ago was out of your hands. One cannot stop the wind from screeching or the destruction of a storm. You must stop carrying this burden basket. Leave it here, among the fields of your dreams. You need to find peace now that you're free.” His tone was even and comforting. As he spoke the winds picked up the clouds grew darker.

“Papa?” I hugged him tighter not wanting my dream to end, but knew that it had to. I always ended the same way.

“Hush my dear. Our time is up. Just remember, you may not see me but I will always be with you. Remember, that you are who you want to be, not what others say you are.”

I felt him disappear, slowly fading away. I look up and see nothing but the corn and the rising storm. The wind whipped harshly. The sky turned black. The corn thrashed about wildly, as if it too wanted to escape your nightmare.

“Papa I wished I believed you… but can a wolf become a deer? Can a fish fly as the birds do? I am what I am...a monster.” I know there is no escape. I collapse to the ground and let the storm pull me into darkness.

Slowly my mind arrives back into the real world. Thoughts still on my grandfather. It was so good to see him again!  My eyes flutter open and everything that happened came flooding back to my memory. With a ground I sit up and analyze my situation.

-Blue Room--Black Bed--Fridge--Wardrobe--I’m Alone--I’m Naked--Shit I’m Naked!!!-

I look down at myself. My skin is clean and a little bit tingly. A large proton of my body is covered in gauze and bandages, but not enough to consider myself descent. I stand very quietly and make my way over to the wall. In front of me was a large variety of medical equipment. I grab a small scalpel, just in case I needed to defend myself. One thing I have learned through my life is that its always a good idea to have a weapon close by.  Next I make my way over to the wardrobe. Carefully I open it, but finding no threats, proceed to pull on the first articles of clothing my hands touch: a large black shirt and boxers. I then examine the rest of the clothes in the closet.

-Male--About Six Foot Two Inches--Medium Build--Mousey Brown Hair--Probably Has A Medical Background--So Not The Male That Set Me Free--Where Is He?-

I then hear footsteps coming down the hall. Instinct kicks into gear and in a blink of an eye I grab the first thing I see, a small metal box, and I’m on top of the fridge. From my new vantage point I can easily see the whole room and still stay hidden.

The door opens and in walks a male that fits my deduction of the clothing. Only he’s wearing a deep blue mask and carrying a plastic sack. I curse in my head. I hated when people cover their faces. Facial expressions help me know who is a threat and who is not in a matter of seconds. Its very hard for normal people to stop there mussels from giving away their mood.

The male shuts the door and starts to make his way over to me. My heart beats faster, but my mind screams for it to stop. ‘He doesn't know where I am. He’s just putting up some food!” And indeed that is what he did. After he was done he turned his attention to the spot where I had woken up. He stopped for a moment then searched frantically! He kept calling for me to come out (fat chance at that!!), He said something about a friend who brought me here. About fixing me up. Saying he won't hurt me…. but he was calling me...human.

‘Why is he referring to me as human? Thats an unusual way to refer to someone! This blue masked one is just as strange as the one who carries tomahawks!’

Again he makes his way over to the fridge, this time offering food in return for my location. At this I was tempted! My last meal was a small chunk of bread, and that was two days ago! As the male reached inside the fridge once more to receive food I decided that it was now or never. I shift myself until I’m crouched on the edge, right above his head. He heard me and looked up.

“How the hell you get up there?”

I attack. I throw the box at his head, but he moved so it only nicked him. Still it was enough to bring him down. I then proceed to jump on top of him.

“Why are you wearing my clothes?”

‘Why the hell did that matter?’ I reach down and rip off his mask. I was dieing to see what his face would give away.

-No Eyes--Grey Skin--Sharp Teeth--In A Small Amount Of Pain--Worried--Scared?--Not Aggressive-

His appearance didn’t scare me, if anything it made me curious! You see, I had made a vow long ago that, no matter how someone looked, I would never judge them. Not like I had been judged. But I also never trusted someone until I for sure knew them...and even then you still don’t fully.

But since he showed no aggression, I relax. ‘I wonder how he can see? Is he human?’

A voice from down stairs startles you both.

“YO, JACK! HOW MANY KILLS DID YOU GET TONIGHT?!?! I GOT THREE IN ONE GO!!! LOOKS LIKE I’M GOING TO WIN THE BET!!!”

‘KILLS!!! So he was a murder! Thats it! I’m out of hear! To think he tried to convince me that he wasn’t going to kill me!’

“Lier.” I spit the word out in the grey males face. Inside I curse myself for ever letting my guard down! Then I run. I don’t care how, but I am going to get out of here! I need to be free! I’m out the door in a flash but find myself in a large hallway. Without much thought I run to the right. As I turn the corner, however, I’m met with a new obstacle.

-Male--About Five Foot Seven Inches--Very Pale Complexion--Covered In Blood-Most Likely Not His--He Is Grinning Wickedly--A Smile Carved Onto His Face--Dangerous!-

My grip tightens around the scalpel. Even though his body looks relaxed with both feet spread, I know that look in someones eyes. He was out for more blood. And I will never go down without a fight! I hear someone round the corner behind me but don’t bother to look. I know who it is by the sound of the breathing. My focus is on the smiling male.

“Jack did you bring a new toy home with you?” The male never broke eye contact with me. “Mind if I play with it?” He pulls out a long knife from his hoodie. It’s already covered in blood.

Before either males could react, I charge at the smiling male. He seems a bit taken aback by this and his smile shrinks a bit. Surprise was my chance. Just before I was upon the smiling male, I lean back and drop to my knees. I allow my body’s momentum and the smooth polish marble slide me right between the males legs. As I passed, I held out the scalp and let it run through the skin of the smiling males lower calf. I loved the feel of muscle being torn. Once I was clear, I stand back up smoothly and continue to run full speed down the hall without looking back.

The smiling male let out a shriek of pain followed by curse words directed at me. I payed no mind. I round another corner, red, black and silver blur as I make my way down a staircase. At last I see a door, and by the grand look of it, the front door. Not wasting any time, I burst outside. Then I see the most beautiful sight! The forest! I run for it. I long to disappear among it branches and shadows! To feel safe! To be alone.

I am just to the edge of the forest when a man appears out of no where! I accidentally run smack into him! Before I can turn and run again, he grabs me by the shoulders. His strong hands grip tight and then lift me up off the ground. He lifts me up until my face is no more than an inch from his.

-No Visible Facial Features--Ghostly White Skin--Tall--Bald--Relaxed Facial Muscles--Not Aggressive--Curious?-

“Hello my dear.” A voice like velvet sung in my head. Black tentacles appeared behind him and started to snake towards me “What are you doing running from my home?”
Yay she finally wake up!:happybounce:  But now she's a house full of killers!:o (Eek)
